SEISMICITATEA, SEISMOTECTONICA SI HAZARDUL SEISMIC DIN ZONA TIMISOARA

Rezumat: Zona Timisoara este situata in centrul Regiunii Seismice Banat, cea mai importanta regiune seismica a Romaniei, daca ne raportam la hazardul seismic controlat de cutremure crustale (adancimea focarelor mai mica de cca 30 km). Istoria seismica a zonei este marcata de seisme cu magnitudini maxime Mw = 5.6, care au provocat daune materiale semnificative fondului construit, atat in municipiul Timisoara cat si in localitatile invecinate. Seismicitatea zonei este caracterizata prin grupari ale epicentrelor in arii bine definite, corelate cu un complex sistem de falii crustale rectivate intr-un regim tectonic transtensiv. Seismele produse in perioada Ianuarie-Februrie 2012 confirma caracterul seismic activ al sistemului de falii geologice dezvoltat in apropierea orasului Timisoara si importanta acestuia pentru evaluarea si reducerea hazardului si riscului seismic al orasului Timisoara si al localitatilor invecinate acestuia. Pentru perioade de recurenta specifice codurilor antiseismice national (P-100/2006) si european (Eurocode EC8) hazardul seismic al zonei seismogene Timisoara este definit de intensitatea I = 7.0 EMS si respectiv I = 7.5 EMS.

Abstract: Timi?oara zone develops within Banat Seismic Region, one of the most seismic active regions of Romania when we consider the seismic hazard controlled by crustal seismicity (focal depths less then 30 km). Historical, the city of Timi?oara and its neighbouring localities experienced more strong earthquakes, Mw=5.6, that produced significant effects on the bulidings. The seismicity is characterized by proups of epicenters well corelated with a complex geological faults system reactivated in a transtensiv tectonic regim. The earthquakes occured between January and February 2012 confirm the seismic activitiy of the geological faults near Timi?oara and thei importance for assessing the hazard and risk for Timi?oara zone. For recurrence periods defined by national (P-100/2006) and European antiseismic (EuroCode EC8) codes the seismic hazard for Timi?oara zone is defined by intensity I=7.0 EMS and I=7.5 EMS, respectively
