Abstract: Coastal erosion is a phenomenon with major implications on the Romanian coast. The consequences of this phenomenon manifest different magnitudes on the shore sectors. The evolution of each shore sector is the result between erosion and accretion of sediment. In recent decades this phenomenon had a negative impact as a result of new conditions arising within preexisting natural environment. The hydro-geo-morfological coastal aspects have a special place, both by their specificity and their implications that they have on human life and activity, on the biotic communities of the related portions of the sea shore. The components that optimize the quality of stagnant water as well as establishing the navigation conditions within the natural evolution of bays and coastal beaches, in the wake of different offshore constructions include the following: estimation of wind wave growth and transformation near the shore, the assessment of actual tendencies of the shoreline evolution caused by regional sediment transport, environmental impact assessment induced by the dynamic sand cordons in the relevant areas to the Danube mouths that are based on numerical process models. The propagation of waves near the shore is induced by: complex seafloor topography, wind generated currents and waves, water level variation, the shape of the coast and its coastal structures. Comparative analysis of the results obtained by numerical simulation on the marine and coastal currents as well as the transformation of waves in the studied offshore sectors, revealed a highly complex hydrodynamic processes in the vicinity of the river mouths, as well as the need for a complex approach to the numerical/theoretical undertaking.
