Rezumat
Lucrarea prezinta unele aspecte privind zona seismica Banat, caracteristicile si efectele cutremurelor banatene asupra constructiilor din Timisoara. Principalii factori care influenteaza miscarea seismica intr-un amplasament pot fi grupati in patru categorii: factori de sursa, propagarea undelor seismice,factori locali de amplasament, interactiunea teren-structura. Diferentele dintre caracteristicile cutremurelor de pamant si fenomenele complexe de interactiune dintre factorii care influenteaza caracteristicile finale ale
unei inregistrari seismice duc la o variabilitate importanta a inregistrarilor. Una dintre cele mai importante probleme privind proiectarea constructiilor amplasate in zone seismice o reprezinta selectarea tipului de cutremur. Diversitatea conditiilor de fundare in orasul Timisoara maresc gradul de incertitudine privind raspunsul constructiilor existente.

Abstract
This paper presents some aspects regarding the seismic area Banat, its characteristics and
earthquake effects on buildings in Timi?oara. The main factors that are influencing the seismic movement on
a site can be clustered into four categories: source factors, seismic wave propagation, local site factors, and
ground-structure interaction. Differences between the characteristics of earthquakes and complex
phenomena of interaction between factors that influence the final characteristics of a seismic record lead to
considerable variability of records. One of the most important problems regarding building design located in
seismic areas represents the selection of earthquake type. The variety of foundation conditions in Timi?oara
increase the degree of uncertainty regarding the building response.
