POWER SYSTEM OPERATION IN A CHANGING ENVIRONMENT

Autor/autori: Walter Sattinger (Elvetia)

Abstract: Currently worldwide all power systems are faced with dramatically changes. After restructuring the system operation due to unbundling and deregulation and related high volatility of power flows at the level of transmission, we can observe substantial changes due to a significant shift of power generation from a few big units feeding directly into the transmission system in opposite direction from a high number of decentralised generation units from the lower voltage levels up to load centres. TSOs as actors responsible for the overall system stability will have to give adequate answers to these challenges by using innovative techniques for power system operation and control.
