Abstract: This paper presents a study on the influence of the stator winding upon the shape of the voltages of a five-phae permanent magnet synchronous generator. Two distinct structures are taken into discussion: stator winding with concentrated and distributed coils and magnetic circuit with straight and skewed slots. The sudy is based both on FEM simulations and experimental tests. The results prove a certain superiority of the solution that uses distributed coils and skewed slots mainly as regards the torque ripple but also the shape of the line and phase voltages

Keywords: five-phase permanent magnet synchronous generator, FEM analysis
