DIN PREISTORIE LA COSORUL LUI MOCEANU O scurtă introducere în istoria împletiturilor din nuiele și confecționării coșurilor

Rezumat: Lucrarea de față intenționează să deschidă o perspectivă asupra împletiturilor din nuiele și răchită, a coșurilor, de-a lungul vremurilor. Povestea apariției, în urmă cu mult peste 10.000 ani, și confecționării coșurilor este fascinantă, iar articolul își propune să sugereze linii de cercetare în acest domeniu, apanaj mai degrabă al etnografilor și antropologilor, decât al istoricilor tehnicii. Titlul face trimitere la ultimul roman al lui Marin Preda, „Cel mai iubit dintre pământeni”, în care gardianul „Dumnezeu” le ține o lecție deținuților politici despre un instrument ingenios, cosorul lui Moceanu, cu care aceștia vor trebui să confecționeze coșuri. Împletitul și confecționarea coșurilor a fost unul dintre primele meșteșuguri omenești, iar utilizările împletirii pentru omul primitiv au fost nenumărate: de la construcția adăposturilor și a împrejmuirilor, la obiecte de primă necesitate domestică și chiar obiecte rituale. Antropologii și arheologii susțin ferm că utilizarea și fabricarea coșurilor au precedat invenția ceramicii și a textilelor. Aparent neînsemnat, coșul a avut un impact greu de egalat în istoria umanității.

Abstract: The present work intends to open a perspective on wickerwork, particularly baskets, throughout the time. The story of the appearance, well over 10,000 years ago, and the making of baskets is fascinating, and the article aims to suggest new lines of research in this field, the prerogative of ethnographers and anthropologists rather than historians of technology. The title refers to Marin Preda's last novel, "The Most Beloved of the Earthlings", in which the guard "Dumnezeu" teaches political prisoners a lesson about an ingenious tool, Moceanu's pruning knife, with which they will have to make baskets. Basket weaving and making was one of the first human crafts, and the uses of basketry for primitive man were countless: from the construction of shelters and enclosures, to objects of basic domestic necessity and even ritual objects. Anthropologists and archaeologists firmly argue that the use and manufacture of baskets predates the invention of ceramics and textiles. Seemingly insignificant, the basket has had an unparalleled impact on human history
