Începând cu traducerea: lideri, titani, savanți , pionieri, ilustre personalități, îndepărtată de sensul originar englez: leader /ˈliːdə/, noun, the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country. În cazul de față, o interpretare secundară, ar fi mai acceptabilă: someone or something that is the first or the most important!

Abstract
This article attempts to provide an objective assessment of the appearance of George (Gogu) Constantinesco in the magazine "The Graphic" in London on January 16, 1926, alongside other leading personalities, 17 in number, who made themselves (well)known in the first quarter of the 20th century. G. Constantinesco is a great engineer, inventor and mathematician, with remarkable results, but his own sustained work, achievements and posterity confirm his stature and not a magazine article, addressed to a non-specialized audience and, above all, drawn up without a rigorous selection or ranking methodology, despite the fact that some journalists without scientific training were behind the drawing up of the list. Far be it from me to think that our Romanian, well immersed – I could even say integrated, without being mistaken – in British society at that time, would be an intruder among those pompously titled “Leaders in the March of Progress”, but only to temper a propensity for exaggeration. Starting with the translation: leaders, titans, scholars or geniuses, pioneers, illustrious personalities, far removed from the original English meaning: leader /ˈliːdə/, noun, the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country. For as long as I can remember, I have been intrigued, in the sense of interested and curious (in my journalistic career some have even considered me obsessed!), by the meaning of words and their development, from the initial to the current meaning, trying to discern between meanings or synonyms and always choose the more appropriate option, often even going to etymologies. In this case, a secondary interpretation would be more acceptable: someone or something that is the first or the most important! To temper the enthusiasm that leads to these exaggerations, I sought out the source, which I had quite a hard time accessing, namely the magazine itself, to make an informed decision. And I share with those interested some of my conclusions.
